Welcome to my blog!
Hi everyone. My name is Katie Lanier and I am currently a graduate student and nutrition education consultant for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. To learn more about WIC follow this link. My undergraduate education is in Nutritional Sciences and I have been working towards my master's degree in Health Studies. In the midst of my studies and fabulous job, I am planning a wedding to the love of my life. Wellness, balance, and nutrition have always been a central part of my life but it wasn't until I began working for WIC that I became so passionate about moms and babies.
I am focusing on wellness and health during pregnancy because it is such a crucial and impactful time for both mom and baby. Pregnancy is the very beginining of a child's life and an incredibly emotional, exciting, and sometimes scary time in mom's life. I have been able to counsel pregnant women and new and experience moms for over 4 years. I am also surrounded by babies and toddlers in my family-- below is a picture of my precious niece, one of my many blessings in my life.
I am excited to explore and share the importance of living a healthy life during pregnancy with you all.

Katie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my introduction. I was messing around with my blog and I think I accidentally deleted your comment. Sorry, I'm still learning how this blogging thing works.
I also look forward to reading your blog. I think you selected an interesting topic. I have never been pregnant myself, but my sister has two babies. Both her pregnancies were somewhat complicated since she suffered from gestational diabetes. I'm sure your blog will be very informative to many.
Hi Katie!
ReplyDeletePregnancy and nutrition are such powerful topics that really go hand in hand. Isn't it amazing how pregnancy sets the stage in so many ways for children from day 1? Education is such an essential component of this. I'm so thankful for educators like you!
I look forward to reading your posts!
Emily
